let it be

we stand
in the middle of the ocean
in the eye of a hurricane
all around us
on highest speed
it swirls and pulls
time runs in circles
leaving us
watching it turn
admiring it’s dance

just a step forward
and I would be lost
pulled from the anchor
your unsteady hands
provided me with

but we don’t move
not an inch
we stand
only the storm
sways back and forth

you and I
cast away
from consequence
as long as we can
we will hide
so far from reality
let it rattle the borders
of our haven
but never let it in
if you do just know
one of us will have to let go
