You’re the first home the first base
The first safe space for life
In existence

You wiped snotty noses, brushed wonky teeth, wiped sulky tears and then suddenly
pack a school bag for the last time
– It flies doesn’t it –

and suddenly we’re here
What are we now but
A collection of roots and branches
Abloom with memories
With moments, chapters, seconds at times
Still the only ones to matter
Truly they blossom to fall around us
like snow like rain
Soak the ground that carries
That holds us

And the rest – well the rest
Is just confetti
